The Moon of Truth and Consequences
The Sun is in extravagant and colorful Sagittarius; the gypsy, the truth-seeker, and the pilgrim. The Moon is in mental Gemini, the student, teacher and messenger. The Archer is the philosopher who is on a quest for meaning; this sign sees the big picture and asks deep questions. The Twins represent the journalist and the broadcaster; the one who gathers and distills the information, then shares it with the world.
The Sun, in excessive Sagittarius, is conjunct bigger-is-better Jupiter (the ruler of Sagittarius); both are opposite the Gemini Moon and square to aggressive Mars in elusive Pisces. Jupiter is strong in its own sign but when it’s in cahoots with Mars things can get blown out of proportion, exaggerated, and embellished. Mars in watery Pisces can be highly intuitive but also passive-aggressive. Fast-talking Mercury, currently retrograde in Sagittarius, is also conjunct giant Jupiter. Words are powerful; they can heal or hurt, inspire, shame, or shape. Take a moment before you speak or text and ask yourself: “Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?”
“If I only had three words of advice, they would be, Tell the Truth. If I had three more words, I’d add, All the Time.” Randy Pausch (The Last Lecture)
This past month, at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, we had to do a paper on ethics. I had never actually thought about the word ethics although I have certain beliefs that I feel strongly about. The word “ethics” is derived from the Greek word, “ethikos” which is itself derived from “ethos.” “Ethos” is a Greek word meaning “character” that is used to describe the guiding beliefs or ideals that characterize a community, nation, or ideology. I had to look deeply at what I stand for, believe in, and support. It was a valuable exercise, one I’m still pondering.
This Full Moon invites us to examine our ethics, our principals, and what we stand for. Are we living our truth; are we walking our talk; are we really who we say we are? This is the Moon of Truth and Consequences; a cleansing Moon, a shape-shifting Moon. Stay alert to signs and omens. Teachers and tricksters appear to bring us messages from the future and remind us who we are and why we have come here.
