Isn’t it wonderful how every month we get a New Moon, a fresh start, and a different perspective? This New Moon is in Gemini, the sign associated with communication, information, language, learning, teaching and technology. New Moons are generally a time for initiating action and moving forward but not so fast; currently Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all retrograde, plus Neptune turns retrograde on June 18, followed by Mars on June 26. In addition, Mercury (the ruler of Gemini) is in emotional Cancer. This New Moon encourages us to not merely push forward but dive deeper.
The best use of this New Moon is to become conscious of our mind; challenge our thinking and examine the beliefs that shape our thoughts and influence our communication. Words can heal or hurt; thoughts can set us free or imprison us. This lunation encourages us to speak consciously and listen loudly, not just with our ears but with our heart.
Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, makes a stressful square to injured Chiron and an opposition to demanding Saturn; old wounds and childhood pain may surface. Mercury is out of bounds (June 6-24), beyond the limits and constraints of the sun, free to explore and experiment. New insights and ideas can wake us up and begin to heal longstanding mental patterns, verbal abuse, and release the old stories we’re carrying.
“Uncertainty is an uncomfortable position but certainty is an absurd one.” -Voltaire
Mercury (the mind) makes an inspiring sextile to Uranus (the divine mind) fostering enlightened conversations and authentic truths. What a wonderful time to enter therapy, join a 12 Step program or begin to meditate. Go to a film you wouldn’t normally see. Read a book that confronts your beliefs. Attend a religious service outside your faith. Don’t be surprised if someone hands you an article that changes the way to see life or you have an unexpected conversation with a stranger that transforms you. Synchronicity abounds and magic is in the air. Stay open. Stay teachable.
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves—like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given to you because you would not be able to live them. The point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” -Rainer Maria Rilke
